CROSS CANADIAN RAGWEED!
Drinko de Mayo Party
This Drinko de Mayo we are officially tearing down the walls and letting the bread-countries of our hot American beef sandwich make some sort of meatloafy thing. Well, maybe that isn’t the greatest analogy, considering that 1: it should be more of a Mexican-based food analogy, (i.e. chimichanga) and 2: Cross Canadian Ragweed is from Texas. Their name is a reference to members of the band and, we think, some potent strain of cross-pollinated…um… let’s just say… herb.
Some of you were lucky enough to catch these alt-country rock n’ rollers the last time they played Congress; all should be warned, expect nothing but the tastiest licks and sweetest riffs this side of the El Dorado River.
A short visit to our wikicongress.com/DrinkodeMayo page explains how this alt-country rock band from Texas with a Canadian name makes perfect sense for a Drinko de Mayo party:
It all started on May 5th, 1862. General Ignacio Zaragoza Segum opened up a tasty and mighty Mexican beer while looking over the field, hours before the Battle of Puebla. With help from his trusty Canadian-by-way-of-Texas advisor, whom he affectionately named “Ragweed,” the general heroically fought the French hand to hand. A couple tequila shots later, he actually chartered a ship to go to France to deliver Napoleon III his ass.
