Born and raised in Florida, DJ Icey has been mesmerized by electronic music ever since hearing the synthesizer breakdown on The Edgar Winter Group’s “Frankenstein”. “My mom had that album and I would play that middle part over and over wondering how they made that sound,” Icey recounts. “I was little and thought it was so cool”.
Rising to worldwide prominence out of the fertile Orlando Florida electronic music scene which has spawned the likes of AK 1200,Kimball Collins, Jimmy Van M, Chris Fortier, and Baby Anne, Icey cut his teeth at the legendary EDGE nightclub in the mid-90s, and even persuaded The Chemical Brothers to play their first show Stateside there. When The Edge closed in 1996, DJ Icey hit the road… and has stayed on it since.
Icey runs two Indie labels dedicated to the Breaks he loves, the Main imprint Zone Records released it’s first 12 Inch single in 1994, “Energy Tracks Volume 1” quickly followed by the hard to find “Encyclopedia Funktanica” both of these records gained a cult following worldwide as there was nothing quite like it at the time. Zone Records continues releasing more than a dozen records a year and his second label Tree Records follows very closely behind with slightly more eccentric productions. Discovered for the punters by BBC Radio 1 DJ and longtime A&R kingpin Pete Tong, Icey became the first American producer to sign to his U.S. ffrr label in 1997 as an artist thanks to Pete and U.S. Honcho Neil Harris, He was the first American DJ to be selected to record a prestigious “Essential Mix” for U.S. Release. With over 200 12” singles under his production belt and 5 cd releases, Icey has SoundScanned over 300,000 CD units in North America alone.
Playing 100+ gigs per year, Icey is a touring maniac. But that doesn’t keep him out of the studio during the week working on new tracks for his Indie Labels Zone and Tree records, constantly trying to push the envelope to make his fans sweat on the dancefloor. The new material is then cut on dub plates and tested out on weekend gigs: “There is nothing better than finishing a tune and seeing the reaction from a crowded dancefloor right after finishing it,” he beams. 2003 saw DJ Icey release “Different Day”, a new album of all original material. Different Day, Icey’s second full-length artist album to date, embraces futuristic breakbeat interwoven with house sensibilities, while keeping the energy level peaking throughout. 2004 saw the release of his new Mix CD ‘For the Love of the Beat’, Icey creates a seamless hour plus long mix encompassing the many faces of the Worldwide Breakbeat scene. New CD Projects are on the Horizon for late 2005 and 12″ Vinyl Singles on the Tree and Zone Records Imprints will be released monthly.
Along with:
DJ Haaps (D.C./Seattle - TheMidnightSons.com / Essential Breaks / XS)

A staple breakbeat DJ on both the West and East Coasts, DJ Haaps career had humble beginnings blending sounds from a CD player and a belt drive turntable using a radio shack mixer. With proper equipment the humble beginnings immediately gave way to active bookings: shortly after first playing out, Haaps was booked at a Seattle rave with headliners Donald Glaude, DRC, and Ghost Tribe and things havent slowed down in the nine years since. Despite his initial interest in trance, Haaps quickly developed a love for the deep bass lines and choppy nature of breakbeat, finding himself drawn to the crossfader tricks possible with the genre. While Haaps has grown to appreciate most of the many subgenres of electronic music, he continues to focus on bringing his flavor of exceptional breaks and d&b around the U.S., and recently the world. 2005 included a tour around the world, including shows at the world renowned Full Moon beach party in Thailand; NAPT & MJ Cole-run night, Prolific, at Herbal in London; and multiple D&B shows in Barcelona.
ZEV (Tucson - TheMidnightSons.com)

At a time when drum n’ bass was known as hardcore and warehouses were popping, Zev was taken underground and never came back. He fell in love with the acid and old skool music of the 1990’s and knew he had to be a part of it. After 5 years of getting his groove on the many dancefloors of Arizona, Zev jumped behind the decks and began spinning trance. A couple years and few bookings later he found his true calling in breakbeats and it was on. A Southern Arizona favorite for over five years now, Zev keeps the dance floors bouncin’ with his blend of electro, funky breaks and house.
Corbin Dooley (Tucson - Bikiniwax / Vinylize Management / KXCI)

For the past fifteen years, Corbin Dooley has made his mark DJing,
producing and championing music on many levels. An internship working with The Smiths at London’s Rough Trade Records in 1987 inspired him to take the programming reins of Wake Forest University’s college radio station WAKE. A subsequent move to New York upon graduation led to a job working with Run-DMC at Profile Records. In 1989, Dooley migrated to TVT Records to join forces with then-unknown Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails). The chance to work with Blur, Jesus Jones, & Jeffrey Gaines led Dooley to SBK/EMI Records in 1991.
Dooley then founded rock label PCMusic in early 1995. He simultaneously teamed with breakbeat producer DJ Stratus to launch the drum-and-bass label Supercell. After securing additional venture capital, Dooley’s two labels released over thirty singles & albums in the next three years, with distribution by ADA. Dooley expanded into radio as host & producer of ‘Ear Xtasy,’ a weekly 3 hour electronica program for San Diego’s modern rock station 91X, as well as ‘Loudspeaker,’ a weekly indie rock specialty show.
In early 2000, Dooley partnered with musician and event planner John
Ragusa, and was soon DJing at numerous social events and venues,
including New York’s Palace, the Puck Building, and Sky Studios. In the
summer of 2001, he began releasing singles on his new label, Bikiniwax. He then collaborated with DJ and producer Powder in the launch of Vinylholic, the production company and record label. Vinylholic Recordings’ debut 12″ single, Dibs’ “I’m the Mack,” was released in March 2005, followed by the Vinylholic remixes of Paranoid Social Club’s “Two Girls,” released in the summer of 2006.
Currently, Corbin is traveling frequently as an event DJ, as well as hosting & producing the electronic music program “Clear Static” on 91.3FM KXCI Tucson. He continues to write, produce & record at his Orange Bambu studio, under his alias, DJ Clinch, with ex-Machines of Loving Grace guitarist Stuart Kupers, vocalist Sukie Keita, mashup pioneer DJ Reset, funksoul brother Nadir, breakbeat eccentric DJ Butterface, & rising indierock-dance magician The Invisible Kid. He is represented on the West Coast by Ronnie Spece with Vinylize Management.
